What is BUMS?
The Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) is a professional medical degree based on the Unani system of healing. This five-and-a-half-year program includes four and a half years of academic instruction and a one-year internship. Students are trained in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, diagnosis, and Unani therapeutics, with a balance between traditional approaches and modern clinical exposure. Regulated by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and under the supervision of the Ministry of AYUSH, the BUMS course is officially recognized across India.
Eligibility for BUMS Course
To enroll in the BUMS program, students must:

Have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English (minimum 50%)

Students with a Urdu background at the school level are often preferred, as many Unani texts are originally in Urdu and Arabic.
BUMS Course Fees

The annual tuition fee is approximately ₹2,04,000, with an additional exam fee of ₹20,000 applicable in each professional year. This includes key educational materials like doctor’s kits, uniforms, digital library access, and more. A one-time admission fee of ₹20,000 is also charged at enrollment.
